7/8 Swearing-in Ceremonies: Swearing-in ceremonies for the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s newly elected members of our Reservation Business Committee were held on Friday, July 5th, and Tuesday, July 9th. Bruce Savage and Wally Dupuis were sworn in as the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s next Chairperson and District 1 (Cloquet) Representative on July 5th. Earl Otis was sworn in as the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s next District 3 (Brookston) Representative on July 9th.
7/2 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Education Division is seeking sealed bids to remove and replace 8 locker room shower valve operators at the Fond du Lac Ojibwe School, 49 University Road, Cloquet, MN. Bids should include any necessary tile repair. The deadline for submitting bids was July 12, 2024, 12:00 PM.

6/28 Royalty Applications: The 2024-25 Fond du Lac Reservation Royalty Applications were due by June 30, 2024.
6/28 Cannabis Regulatory Commission Members: The Reservation Business Committee was seeking five Band members to serve on the Cannabis Regulatory Commission. A Cannabis Commissioner must be age 21 or older and an enrolled member of the Band residing within the State of Minnesota. The Cannabis Commissioners shall meet as frequently as necessary to discharge their duties. The deadline to submit a request for consideration was June 30, 2024.
6/27 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Education Division is seeking bids to replace/repair concrete sidewalks at the Fond du Lac Ojibwe School, 49 University Road, Cloquet, MN. The deadline for submitting bids was July 12, 2024, 4:00 PM.
6/27 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Education Division is seeking sealed bids to install LED fixtures with dimmer switches in the two FACE Program Buildings at the Fond du Lac Ojibwe School, 49 University Road, Cloquet, MN. There are approximately 44 fixtures that should be confirmed by site visit. The deadline to submit bids was July 11, 2024, 4:00 PM.
6/27 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Education Division is seeking bids to remove/replace floor coverings at the Fond du Lac Ojibwe School FACE buildings, 49 University Road, Cloquet, MN. The deadline to submit bids was July 10, 2024, 4:00 PM.
6/21 World Peace and Prayer Day: On Friday, June 21st, World Peace and Prayer Day was held in Pipestone, Minnesota and was led by Chief Arvol Looking Horse, the 19th Generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe. The purpose of this event was to invite all nations and faiths to pray together to foster world peace and heal our relationship with Mother Earth. 6/18 Request for Proposals: FDL Housing is seeking sealed bids for a residential renovation project at 8216 Mahnomen, Cloquet, MN. The deadline for submitting bids was July 2, 2024, 3:00 PM.
6/18 FDL Transit Holiday Schedule: Fond du Lac Transit was OPEN for limited hours on the Juneteenth holiday, Wednesday June 19th. Rides were available between 9:00 am – 4:15 pm.
6/18 Tree Giveaway: FDL Forestry gave away Cedar and Balsam Fir trees on June 18, from 11 am - 4:30 pm.
6/18 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Reservation Business Committee is soliciting proposals from qualified professional services and engineering firms for environmental review and design of a Rural and Tribal Assistance Pilot Program Project (RTAP) funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation for a pedestrian and bicycle trail/pathway connection from the Fond du Lac Reservation to the Willard Munger State Trail. The deadline for submitting bids was July 10, 2024, 4:30 pm.
6/6 FDL Resource Management to host MN Greencorps member: FDL Resource Management will be hosting a MN GreenCorps member from September 2024 – August 2025! Applications were due June 13th.
6/3 Tribal Council Candidate Forum: The Fond du Lac Candidate Forum took place on June 3rd, 2024, at the Anishinaabewigamig (Culture & Language Center) from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The vision for the General Election Candidate Forum is to be informative, provide an opportunity to learn more about candidates running for Chairperson, District I Representative, and District III Representative, increase voting percentage in the general election, and cast an informed vote on June 11th, 2024.

5/31 General Election Office Relocated: Due to flooding, the Fond du Lac General Election Office has relocated to the prior office location near the end of the east wing of the Tribal Center building. Check with the front desk for directions to the office location.
5/28 Elder Lawn Mowing: Summer youth will begin mowing in early June. FDL Elders aged 62 or older are eligible for this program. Contact the WIOA Coordinator at 218-878-2636 for details.
5/24 Black Bear Casino hiring for 2024 Black Bear Bash: Black Bear Casino Resort was looking to hire 20 people to work as Crowd Control and Custodial during to One-day Bear Bash Celebration. As of June 20th, all people have been hired that are needed.
5/24 Tribal Highway Carpenter Training Available: Free five-week training in highway carpentry will be held from June 10 - July 12, 2024. Receive all the tools you’ll need to start your career as a carpenter! The training will be held in Bemidji, MN.
5/24 MNDot/Tribal Cement Masons training: MNDot is hosting a free 10-week training for Cement Masons. The training will be held at the Cement Masons Local 633 JATC Training Center in New Brighton, MN, from May 28 - Aug 2, 2024. During the duration of the training, you will learn both related and on-the-job technical training.
5/22 Request for Proposals: Architectural/Engineering firms are invited to submit a proposal for Architectural and Engineering services for the design and construction administration of a new transportation facility owned and operated by the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Fond du Lac Transit will occupy the facility. The deadline to submits bids was June 13, 2024, 2:00 pm.
5/22 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Construction Projects Division is requesting a proposal for geotechnical services for the FDL Transit Facility project. The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is building a new Transit Facility to accommodate our growing transportation needs. The project is located on Airport Road in Cloquet Minnesota. The deadline to submits bids was May 30, 2024, 4:00 pm.
5/20 Job Opportunities: Job opportunities available for Fond du Lac Band Members to work on the last stage of the Enbridge pipeline removal project. Seize this chance to start or continue your career, work locally, and earn a competitive wage. Wages range from $28 - $43 per hour! These job opportunities ended June 30, 2024.
5/20 Tree & Shrub Giveaway: FDL Resource Management gave away Juneberry, American Plum, Sand Cherry, Elderberry, Winterberry, High Bush Cranberry, Yellow Birch and Paper Birch bare root stock on Monday May 20th and Tuesday May 21st from 10 am - 4 pm, at the Resource Management building.

5/13 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (FDL) is requesting proposals for the construction of a Brookston Biomass District Heat Building. This building will provide wood heat for the Fond du Lac Brookston Community Center by means of a circulation heat loop. The FDL Resource Management Division staff, Messersmith Manufacturing Inc., and LHB Inc. partnered to design the biomass district heat building utilizing byproducts of logging and fuels reduction operations to produce district heat. The deadline to submit bids was Thursday, May 30, 2024, 2:00 pm.
5/10 Fire Update: Fond du lac's wildfire program is happy to announce that we were able to conduct some much needed hazardous fuel reduction burning yesterday. If the weather continues to cooperate, we hope to get more done at the beginning of next week. This is to better help protect our communities through the use of "good fire". Burn permits are available for those wishing to do some cleanup and fuel reduction around their homes. Also, if you wish to have a "firewise" assessment to see what may be done to help reduce the risk of "bad fire" (wildfire) to your home. please contact Amy Skrivanek at Resource Management. 5/10 Cultural Ceremony Rescheduled: The Cultural Ceremony, Women's Sweat Lodge, scheduled for Friday, May 10, has been rescheduled due to high winds. The Sweat Lodge will be held on Friday, May 17th at the same time, 7 pm. The date change is reflected on the FDL Band Events Calendar. Thank you!
5/8 Red Calf Cohort 2024 Youth Program: The Intertribal Buffalo Council (ITBC) is sponsoring an all-expense paid youth program aimed at increasing interest in natural resources careers in relation to buffalo restoration in Indian Country. There are three events, Black Hills Camp, Yellowstone Park Camp and the ITBC Annual Membership Meeting. Applications for youth, grades Freshman to Senior, were due by May 17, 2024.
5/7 FDL Chairperson to give address at FDLCC Commencement: Kevin Dupuis, Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Chairperson, will provide the commencement address. In total, 148 students are candidates to receive a Bachelor of Science, associate in arts, associate in fine arts, associate in science, or associate in applied science degree from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College this year. Approximately 90 of the graduates will be walking during the ceremony. Student speakers will be James Friedman, Jordan Paulson, and Tanya Atallian. 5/1 Kiwenz Park Open as of May 1st: FDL Parks and Recreation Dept. would like to announce the opening of Kiwenz Park and Recreation Area and Bassett Beach for day use, as of May 1st, 2024. Please contact the department with inquiries at 218-878-7107.

5/1 Request for Proposals: Gitigaaning Pavillion Construction: Project consists of a new 1,536 SF one story three season pavilion building, and sitework. The building shall consist of a poured concrete slab foundation, wood post framed structure, metal siding, metal roof, and aluminum and glass garage doors. 4/30 Cloquet Community Center Gym Closure: The Cloquet Community Center Gym will be closed Wednesday, May 1st, for a funeral and should open back up by 3 pm. Thank you.
4/29 Request for Proposals: Head Start Roofing Replacement: Fond du Lac Reservation on behalf of Fond du Lac Head Start is bidding work to remove and replace the existing ballasted EPDM flat roofing material. The contractor should inspect the existing insulated boards, drains and replace as needed. The deadline for submitting bids was May 17, 2024, 12:00 PM.
4/29 Summer Youth Employment: The FDL Summer Youth Employment program is now accepting applications. Youth ages 14 to 17 are eligible. Applications are due no later than April 30, 2024.
4/24 Request for Proposals: FDL Housing was seeking sealed bids for a Residential Renovation project located at 1282 Mission Road. Cloquet, Mn. 55720. The project will include removal existing sidewalks and installing new sidewalks. The deadline for submitting bids was June 18, 2024, 3:00 pm.
4/24 Request for Proposals: FDL Housing is seeking sealed bids for a Residential Roof replacement project located at 1657 Jarvi Rd Cloquet, Mn. 55720. The project will include roof tear off and installation of new drip edge, underlayment and ice and water membrane and roof accessories and ridge cap. The deadline for submitting bids was May 28, 2024, 3:00 pm.
4/23 Free Trees Available: Free trees, extras from the earth day celebration, are available at the Resource Management front desk. White spruce and red pine are available. 4/19 Chairman Dupuis Awarded Outstanding Tribal Leader Award: Chairman Kevin R. Dupuis Sr. has been awarded the Outstanding Tribal Leader award at the 39th Annual Minnesota Indian Education Association (MIEA) Conference. Despite being unable to accept the award in person due to official responsibilities at the Reservation Board Committee's Monthly Open Meeting, Chairman Dupuis's presence was felt as Kami Diver, Executive Assistant to Chairman Dupuis, and Caleb Dunlap, Communications Director for the Fond du Lac Band, accepted the award on his behalf. The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa couldn't be prouder to see our Chairman recognized for his leadership and dedication to educational and cultural enrichment within our community and across tribal communities in Minnesota.
4/19 General Election Lottery results: On Friday, April 19, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., the Reservation Business Committee held a lottery to determine the order in which the candidates in the General Election for the 2024 Regular Election will appear on the ballot. 4/17 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Food Distribution Program is soliciting proposals from qualified individuals to create artwork incorporating Native American Traditional Foods. 4/12 FDL Human Services issues letter of apology to community: The FDL Human Services Division has issued a letter of apology to the Fond du Lac Community for premature release of information about the cancelation of the Prevention/Intervention Department's summer youth camp. 4/11 Spring Spearing/Netting Mille Lacs Lake opening April 12th: Fond du Lac Resource Management will be opening Mille Lacs Lake Spearing and Netting on FRIDAY, April 12th. The landing will be determined FRIDAY morning based on weather conditions. Resource Management would like to announce that a boat ride program will be made available for 2024 spring harvest at Mille Lacs Lake. Fond du Lac Band Members, aged 65 or older, will be offered a boat ride to set their nets. Spring Spearing & Netting has started as of April 4th! Resource Management will be using the same online sign-up, and permit distribution system in 2024 as it has the last few years. During the morning hours, FDL Resource Management Staff will be sending out a mass email and text to Band members who have signed up
4/10 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Royalty Coordinator is soliciting proposals from individuals to make beaded crowns/hats/sashes for FDL Royalty. The deadline for submitting bids was April 30, 2024, 4:30 pm.
4/10 Fond du Lac Vendors Needed: Calling all Fond du Lac vendors! Our Fond du Lac Band will host a two-day Tribal-State Relations Training (TSRT) at the Black Bear Otter Creek Event Center Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 11. Hundreds of state employees will be present to learn about the Fond du Lac Tribal community and other Tribal communities across the state. As part of this training, we wish to highlight as many of our Fond du Lac vendors as possible. Vendors will be able to present their goods on Wednesday, April 10 [9:30a - 7:30pm] and Thursday, April 11 [7:00am - 4:00pm]. All Fond du Lac community members can register for FREE.
4/9 Tribal Court Clerk's Office Closure: The FDL Tribal Court Clerk's Office will be closed from Wednesday, April 10, through Monday, April 15.
4/9 Request for Proposals: Powwow regalia needed. The Fond du Lac Veterans Committee is soliciting proposals from qualified band members to make 40 outfits in various children’s sizes and styles. We are seeking band members with experience in art of regalia making and Fond du Lac culture The deadline for submitting bids was April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm.
4/3 Amended Conservation Code for 1837 Ceded Territory: The Fond du Lac Band recently amended the Conservation Code for the Minnesota Portion of the 1837 Ceded Territory, reinstating a portion of the Code that was removed in 2003. The amendment reinstates Code Section 3.30 which provides Band members the opportunity to have family members assist them with certain aspects of their treaty harvesting activities. Permits can be obtained from the Conservation Clerk at the John A. Smith Memorial Building or from Fond du Lac Conservation Officers. Click here to read the full Conservation Code. 4/3 FDL Primary Election Results: The official results from the Fond du Lac Reservation's primary election on April 2 are now available. In each election race, the two candidates who receive the most votes progress to the Fond du Lac Reservation General Election on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Click here for the official results. 4/2 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Development Corporation is seeking sealed bids to construct a post frame building at 964 Cary Road, Cloquet, MN. The deadline for submitting bids was April 16, 2024, 4:00 pm.
4/2 Tribal Court Notice: The Tribal Court’s April citation hearings will be held on the second Monday of April, April 8th, instead of the regularly scheduled first Monday of the month.
4/1 Cloquet Community Center Gym Closure: The Cloquet Community Center gym will be closed from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM on Monday April 1st, and will be closed all day on Tuesday April 2nd, for the Tribal Primary election. The pool area will be closed both days as well.

3/28 Food Distribution Closures: Attention Food Distribution Program Participants, the following dates Food Dist. will be closed; all day March 28th for Multi-Food Truck Delivery, and all day March 29th for FDL Holiday. Please plan accordingly to ensure you receive your monthly food package.
3/27 Closure Notice: The Motor Vehicle Registrar office at the FDL Tribal Center is closed today, Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Thank you.
3/26 Closure Due to Weather: Due to continued inclement weather conditions, all Fond du Lac Programs and Clinic operations, except our Minneapolis staff, will be closed today, March 26, 2024. Minneapolis staff will have a 2 hour late start at 10:00 am. All ALR, FDL C Store, and Casino staff will have normal operating hours.
3/26 Propane Closure Notice: Due to the closure, weather and road conditions, FDL Propane will NOT be doing any deliveries today, March 26th. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please always check your tank levels and call for a fill at 20-30%.

3/15 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Development Corporation is soliciting proposals from qualified consulting firms to provide aid in site design, building design, review and programming. The project is to provide a functional building for the Band’s Transit Department. The deadline for submitting bids was April 1, 2024, 4:30 pm.
3/13 Waste Transfer Station Holiday Hours: Starting May 1, 2024, the FDL Waste Management Transfer Station will be adjusting hours of operation for Holidays. The new hours of operation for ALL Holidays are: 8 am – 12 pm. Please note the Transfer Station will be CLOSED for Christmas Day. FDL Waste Management appreciates your understanding and patience as we adjust to slightly different hours during Holidays which will allow for staff to also enjoy these days with their families and friends.
3/13 Fan Bus Available: Ride the Fan Bus to attend the FDL Boys Basketball Section 7A Semifinal Play-Off game against Cherry on Wednesday, March 13, 7:00 pm in Hibbing! The bus will leave Fond du Lac Ojibwe School at 3:45 pm.

3/7 Harm Reduction Community Conversation: Fond du Lac Human Services hosted a Community Conversation on Harm Reduction on Thursday, March 7th, from 5 pm - 8 pm at the Black Bear Casino Otter Creek Event Center. Dinner was included.

2/28 SmokeFree Native Webinar: Join AICAF Deputy Director, CoCo Villaluz, as she moderates this 90-minute webinar on February 28, 1:30 - 3 pm. The webinar features representatives from four health organizations dedicated to supporting Indian Country. Together, they will discuss the innovative SmokefreeNATIVE initiative, which empowers Native communities to quit commercial tobacco through culturally tailored texting interventions. Gain valuable insights into this transformative approach to promoting health and wellness in Indigenous populations.
2/21 Language Advisory Board Public Meeting: The 2024 1st Quarter Language Advisory Board Public Meeting was held on Wednesday, February 21, at the FDL Language and Cultural Center, from 4:45 pm - 6:00 pm. The keynote speaker was Tara Dupuis, Superintendent of FDL Ojibwe School.
2/12 Cloquet Forestry Center Listening Session: A public listening session has been scheduled for February 13 to hear public comment on the University’s intended plans to return this land to the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The session will take place at the Cloquet Forestry Center auditorium (175 University Road, Cloquet, MN 55720) beginning at 3 p.m. and running until 4:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
2/8 Lottery Notice: On Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 9 a.m., the Reservation Business Committee held a lottery to determine the order in which the candidates in the Primary Election for the 2024 Regular Election will appear on the ballot. The lottery was held in the meeting chambers at the Fond du Lac Tribal Center and was broadcast through Zoom.
